My Teaching Philosophy

I believe that regardless of a students different identities (race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, beliefs, etc.), I, as a teacher, have the duty to support my students without bias. I believe that every student is unique and brings their own unique ideas into the classroom. I want my students to all feel like they belong in my classroom and I want them all to feel as though they are being heard. They should be able to feel as though they are able to express themselves.

My main objective in my classroom is to embrace diversity and teach my students to do so as well. I love to incorporate projects that allow students to explore their identities while also teaching the foundations of art. I hope to bring in a fun but educational side of art and art history to my classroom and along with that, bring in a positive and optimistic attitude. I will always have an open mind and an open door to my class and I hope that my students will find support in me. I also hope that my students will enter my classroom ready to learn and exit my classroom learning something new and having a new perspective!
